Putting a cap on the bottled water industry

Ethos: the byline says that Amy Vickers lives in the area where the paper is talking about. She is an engineer and water conservation consultant which lets the reader know that she knows what she is talking about. There is some Ethos established because it is obvious that the author did her research like about the legal issues with Clinton. It is effective because it establishes trust in the reader.
Pathos: The author appeals to the audience by taping into the reader's emotion of doubt about Nestle by telling the readers that Nestle had “spawned an international boycott.” She also has the readers worry about the unspoiled springs that might become spoiled, and for the locals who depend on the water. This is effective because it helps the reader feel emotions about the subject.
Logos: The author makes good points saying that if pumping water then it would be bad for the springs and for the locals so pumping water must be bad. She also comes up with some good solutions. This is effective because she is not only naming the problem but also giving a solution that the reader can help put into motion.

A down point would have to be that the first paragraph did not make any sense to me. It would have been nice if the author had let the reader know what Beakon Hill is or what the subject is because it took me a while to catch up to her.
